Spinal Alembic is a functional lightning rod that combines structural utilities of the Ancient Egyptian djed pillar, the alchemical furnace of Hermetic origin, and the modern-day electrical insulator. The djed is said to represent the spine of Osiris, a myth whose origins would inform methods of embalming used in the mummification of human remains to extract divinity from the corporeal husk.
